I thought retirement meant stepping away from impact, but I was wrong. Coaching has given me a way to connect deeply with students who truly need guidance, without the noise of the traditional classroom. The moments when a student finally believes in themselves again remind me why I became a teacher in the first place.

Britt Gordon

GEL Coach & Former High School Principal

After retiring, I missed the feeling of knowing I made a difference in a student’s life. I’m able to support students through challenges and I can see the growth happen in real time. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know my experience is still making an impact. This work has given me a renewed sense of purpose and a meaningful second chapter in my career.

Laura Peterson

GEL Coach & Former Teacher

I didn’t realize how much I would miss being there for students until I stopped teaching. Coaching has filled that gap in a way I didn’t expect—it’s more personal, more intentional, and often more impactful. I get to help students build skills that will stay with them long after our sessions end.

Executive function coaching helps students develop the skills required to manage time, plan ahead, stay organized, and follow through on both personal and academic responsibilities. Beyond our focus on academic support, GEL’s coaching model emphasizes independence, accountability, and long-term skill mastery.

Tutoring provides specific subject matter support and typically involves reteaching academic concepts that a student may have struggled to understand. Executive function coaching addresses how a student operates and manages themselves. We focus on the systems, behaviors, and decision-making processes that help students consistently meet expectations while holding themselves accountable.

GEL provides comprehensive in-house training on our specific research-based methodology as well as ongoing training and support. What matters most is deep educational experience, strong relational instincts, and a commitment to student growth.

All coaching is conducted virtually in a private, one-on-one setting.
